The inspiration for The Secret Garden comes from the works of the Surrealist master Juan Milo. Weiling Huang, the designer, used the earth as a canvas, various materials as paintbrushes, and architectural vocabulary as pigment to create a unique and artistic garden. The goal was to blend classical and modern elements, walking the fine line between the abstract and the realistic, while providing a space for leisure and contemplation.
What sets The Secret Garden apart is the meticulous control of the overall pattern and the careful arrangement of flowers, grass, mountains, and stones. The combination of sculpture modeling adds to the whimsical atmosphere of the garden. Despite the whimsy, the design ensures that the flow and movement within the garden remain clear and logical, allowing visitors to navigate without getting lost.
The realization of The Secret Garden involved the use of various fountains to enhance the beauty of classical modeling and bring the greenery to life. From the entrance's spring path to the back garden waterfall, water features run throughout the entire garden, adding a touch of coolness and becoming the final piece of the fantasy world puzzle.
Covering a total area of 42,300 square meters, The Secret Garden boasts not only expansive green landscapes but also unique and colorful water features. It is a testament to the designer's vision and the craftsmanship involved in its creation.
As a modern garden, The Secret Garden is a fully realized space that faithfully brings the designer's ideas to life. The attention to detail and the preservation of the original concept from the beginning of construction five years ago are remarkable.
The Secret Garden project began in March 2015 and was completed in August 2016 in Foshan. It was designed to provide an escape from the hustle and bustle of city life, offering residents a serene and intimate connection with nature.
The Secret Garden is a testament to the desire for a greener and more leisurely urban life. It serves as a reminder of the beauty and tranquility found in nature, allowing residents to forget their busy lives and immerse themselves in the elegance and exquisiteness of this urban oasis.
The Secret Garden received the Bronze A' Design Award in the Landscape Planning and Garden Design category in 2020.
